“I can’t wait to be rich!” This is something that I (and many others around the world) say all the time. Despite the fact I have a deep desire to be rich, when I say this I am actually lying to myself. Why? Because I don’t act like I “can’t wait”. In other words: I hang out with my family and friends, I play video games, I watch movies, I listen to music, I sleep in, etc. I do all these other things INSTEAD of working on what I “can’t wait” for.
I know, I know. I can still have a life while pursuing my goals. But if I really “can’t wait” then I wouldn’t want to do these other things as much because my goal would be dominating my thoughts. For example, when I “can’t wait” to use the restroom, I don’t procrastinate it and play video games instead. I have business to take care of, and I don’t let anything stop me from taking care of it. I just wish I could say the same when it came to my actual business.
And that’s just it. I should be able to say “I can’t wait to be rich” without feeling like I’m lying to myself. Because if I really wanted it that bad, I wouldn’t be lying. Actually, I wouldn’t have to say it to begin with because my actions would speak for my words. And that’s exactly why I no longer allow myself to say “I can’t wait to be rich.”
So whenever I’m just sitting back and relaxing, at least in that moment, I acknowledge that I CAN wait. In that moment, I am fine with where I am at. And if I sit there and start thinking to myself “Man….I can’t wait to be rich!” I probably won’t do anything about it. But by refraining from saying those words, I am effectively telling myself that based off of my actions, I CAN wait. The funny thing is, as soon as I tell myself I am acting like I can wait (the truth), I immediately change what I am doing and start acting like I can’t.
The sad thing is, most of the people who “can’t wait” for a certain thing spend more time acting like they CAN wait than acting like they CAN’T. They say that they are 100% willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goal but their actions say otherwise. And it all can start with a lie as little as saying “I can’t wait to be rich” when clearly, they can.
